Best in Glow: November 2016 Play! by Sephora

Hi guys! Today’s post is another belated beauty box, but hopefully you won’t mind too much. This month’s Play! by Sephora box is themed Best in Glow, which is absolutely ADORABLE. Look at the girl on the bag! She’s so cute!

As you can see, we received five items plus a fragrance sample, and can I just get a hallelujah because I didn’t get a mascara sample this month? THANK YOU MAKEUP GODS.

First up we have the Caudalie moisturizing sorbet. I know this is a really expensive brand but I’ll be honest, I have zero interest in anything that isn’t specifically for oily skin, so I’m passing that on.

Next, we got the Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment, which I’ve heard great things about and I can’t wait to try! I love any sort of exfoliator or face mask so this is great. Then we got the Cover FX illuminating primer, which doesn’t sound like it’ll be great on my skin but I’m willing to give it a shot!

Lastly, we received the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Rose Gold (and again, you may recall from my Boxycharm post that I love rose gold) and the Sephora Collection Ultra Shine Gel in Pin Up Pink. I don’t care much for lip gloss but after seeing that name, I’m tempted to keep it!

What did you get in your Play! this month? Thanks for reading!

Lipstick & Chill: Play! by Sephora, October 2016

Hi guys! I’m back again, trying to be a responsible blogger and to actually update my blog on a regular basis! I promise one day I’ll be good at being consistent, but don’t hold your breath.

Today’s post is all about lipstick and chill, which sounds better than Netflix and chill if you ask me… of course, it’s just the theme for this month’s Play! by Sephora.

If you don’t know, Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription that costs ten dollars and gets you five deluxe samples of makeup, hair and skincare, and they always include a little fragrance sample too!

So let’s start, shall we? First, we have this decently sized Christophe Robin regenerating mask, which I’m super excited to try! Then a small sample of the Skin Inc Pure Revival Peel, which looks like may only last one or two uses, but I’ll still give it a try.

And then… UGH… If you’ve followed me long enough, you know I hate getting mascaras in boxes because I never use them and I’m swimming in mascara, and on top of that, this is a mascara I got in BoxyCharm and didn’t even like, so I’m annoyed.

Moving on…

We got a cute little Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Driver’s Seat, which is a color totally up my alley… which is why I have two other colors like this (at least). I’m still going to try it just to test the formula, but I might end up passing it on to my sister.

The perfume sample we got this month was YSL Mon Paris (at least I think that was the name) which I wasn’t crazy about, and last but not least, we got the Belif True Cream Aqua Bomb, which I don’t think I’ll try so it’s going to my pass on pile!

That’s it for today guys, look at me posting two weeks in a row! Go me!

The Unbasic Basics: Play! by Sephora, September 2016

Surprise! Hi loves! You get two posts this week, because I wanted to make sure to get this post up before September actually ended and since I’m actually ahead on posts for once, I figured I might as well do a bonus post for the week. Who knows? Maybe I’ll go back to two posts a week soon!

As you can see, this month’s theme was the Unbasic Basics and came with five items plus a perfume sample, along with the cute bag they send everything in every month. I have so many bags from ipsy that I’m not entirely sure what to do with these bags but they’re so cute, it seems like a waste to throw them away. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to let me know.

This month, we received a Kat Von D tattoo liner in the deluxe sample size, which I already had gotten as a point perk from Sephora, but it’s such a good liner that I’ll definitely be keeping it! Next, we got an Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel, which is going to the pass on pile, the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Protector, which is definitely staying, and the perfume sample is Sud Magnolia by Atelier, also a pass.

Lastly, we received a mini Sephora Rouge Shine lipstick in #14, which I’ll be passing since I don’t like sheer lipsticks and I have enough colors like this one, and the OleHenriksen sheer transformation facial creme, which was going to be a pass, but I’m considering keeping it because looking at the description, it sounds pretty good.

So that’s it for today’s post! Have you signed up for Play! by Sephora yet?

Effortless Summer: my first Play! by Sephora box

Hi guys! If you read my post about this month’s Boxycharm, you may remember hearing that I received my first Play! by Sephora box, and well, here it is! I couldn’t wait to open the box and photograph the goodies in it — I had a vague idea of what to expect but I was excited and surprised nevertheless!

2016-07-19 16.17.41

The theme this month is Effortless Summer; “warm weather essentials and sunny standouts” make for a box with great and varied products. We received five products, plus a perfume sample, and apparently, this month’s box was the first one to send out two versions depending on the skin type you had! People with oily skin (like yours truly) received the products you see above, while people with dry skin received a different cleanser and primer. How cool is that? That’s the first time I’ve seen a beauty box do that in my 2+ years of being subscribed to various ones.

2016-07-19 16.18.12

First up, I received a deluxe sample of the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil medium/deep matte bronzer. This is going straight into the giveaway pile, because a) I don’t use bronzer, b) this will be waaaay too dark for me!

Next up is the blotterazzi by beautyblender, which is basically a reusable blotting sponge and actually sounds really interesting! I’ll definitely be giving this a try. We also got a deluxe sample of the Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Foundation Primer and a sample of the Citrine perfume by NEST.

And over here on the second half of the box, we have the First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser, which sounds INCREDIBLE and just like what my skin needs, ad the Ouai Wave Spray, which okay, I will probably never use and pass on to someone who will appreciate it more than I would.

Aaaaand that would be all for my first ever Play! by Sephora box! All together, I would say this is definitely better than some of the Birchbox boxes (?) I received and definitely better as far as sizes and value than the ipsy bags, so I’m not at all disappointed! Can’t wait for my next box!
