My makeup brush collection: a collab with Helpless Whilst Drying

Hi loves! Continuing on my collab extravaganza, today’s post is a collab with the beautiful Rachael over at Helpless Whilst Drying. Her blog is one of my favorites to read, so I was super excited when she agreed to doing this collab! We decided we wanted to talk about our brush collection, because as proper makeup junkies, we have tons and tons of brushes and it’s one of the things that you don’t see people talk about much, outside of their favorite brushes to use! Make sure you head over to Rachael’s blog to read all about her brush collection.

IMG_0023

By now, my makeup brushes are something I’m really very proud of — I’ve amassed quite the collection over the last few years and I’ve invested in some great brushes that I absolutely love. While I still want to get some Sigma or Morphe brushes, I find that these are perfect for what I need right now.

IMG_0024

First, we’ll start with my most used face brushes. From left to right, we have a BH Cosmetics fan brush, two powder brushes, a Real Techniques buffing brush, stippling brush and contour brush, a BH Cosmetics angled blush brush, a Luxie Beauty small contour brush, a BH Cosmetics complexion blending brush, and a Real Techniques pointed foundation brush and setting brush. I rarely ever use these for what they’re intended for, but isn’t that the whole point?

IMG_0026

Then we have my most used eye brushes. From left to right, they are: a BH Cosmetics spooley brush and lip brush, a Luxie Beauty concealer brush, a Crown Brush crease/shadow brush, a BH Cosmetics fluffy angled shadow brush, a Crown Brush oval concealer brush, a BH Cosmetics classic shadow brush, a Bdellium Tools 776 brush, two Luxie Beauty tapered blending brushes, a BH Cosmetics blending brush, and an elf eyeshadow brush.

IMG_0027IMG_0028

And then we have all the extra brushes that sit in my collection looking pretty, because I don’t use them for much if I’m being honest. I’m not going to go through all of these individually, but as you can see, I have a lot of BH Cosmetics (the pros of buying brush sets) and a surprising amount of foundation brushes, considering I don’t use foundation brushes like… at all.

So that’s my brush collection! I still want to try some new brands, especially Morphe (and especially some of their face brushes), but in the meantime, what I have works perfectly well and I don’t think I’m missing anything.

What brushes do you think my collection needs? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to head over to Rachael’s blog for her post!

MAC lipstick collection: a collab with Clarina Beauty

Hello my loves! Today’s post is a collab with the beautiful Claire over at Clarina Beauty! After she won my MAC giveaway lipstick, we had talked about doing a MAC lipstick collection collab, but with my Chile trip looming on the horizon, we just didn’t get around to doing it before I left! As soon as I got back, I contacted her to get it done ASAP because I was so excited for it. Make sure to head over to Claire’s blog to read all about her MAC lipstick collection!

So let’s get on with it, yes?

IMG_0061

Aaaah, my beautiful MAC lipsticks… They’re really like my babies, and I treasure them with my life. Looking at this picture, I feel like I’m really missing some purples and plums in my collection, but to be fair, I had Heroine and gave it to Kira because I really didn’t use it and they would appreciate it more. Next on my list to get will be some plum shades for sure!

As you can see, I have a total of ten lipsticks and I love them all. If you noticed, there is a MAC lipstick box in the background of the picture, but that’s actually the color Syrup and I sold it to a friend so I could get a different lipstick, since it’s too similar to Brave and I wouldn’t wear it.

But enough chit chat and let’s move on to the swatches!

IMG_0063

First are the nude, MLBB shades. From top to bottom, we have Whirl, Velvet Teddy, Brave and Please Me. Whirl, Velvet Teddy and Please Me are all matte finishes, while Brave is a satin finish. Lucie once described Whirl as the darker, bolder older sister of Velvet Teddy, and she’s definitely right. On me, it’s a beautiful brown nude and my newest addition to the collection! Velvet Teddy is an essential in anyone’s lipstick collection, a perfect nude that looks good on anyone, and Brave and Please Me are more muted nude-ish pinks.

IMG_0064

And now for the pinks and reds! From top to bottom, we have: Candy Yum Yum, All Fired Up, Full Fuchsia, Impassioned, Lady Danger and the infamous Ruby Woo. Most of these, except for Candy Yum Yum and Ruby Woo, I got from my ex… at least one good thing to come out of that relationship! Candy Yum Yum and Lady Danger are matte finishes, All Fired Up and Ruby Woo are retro matte finishes, and Full Fuchsia and Impassioned are amplified finishes.

There you have it, folks, my MAC lipstick collection! What do you think I should get next? Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to go read Claire’s post!

My favorite concealers: collab with The Rose Beauty Files

Hi my beautiful friends! Today’s post is another collab, this time with Molly from The Rose Beauty Files. I approached Molly about a collab a few months ago, originally intending to post it while I was in Chile, but we didn’t get around to arranging it before I left so we got back to it when I came back, and now here it is! If you haven’t checked out Molly’s blog, you should definitely head over there and enjoy how great it is!

IMG_0054

I don’t have a lot of concealers, because between these three, I have everything I need. My favorite concealers are Urban Decay Naked Skin, Rimmel Wake Me Up and NARS Creamy Radiant concealer.

IMG_0058

I got the NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer back in September in one of my first big Sephora hauls. I had heard so many good reviews about it and considering that I was totally lacking a good concealer, I couldn’t help myself. It’s a great concealer, definitely full coverage and great for the circles under your eyes and for redness and blemishes. If you’re looking to invest in a good concealer, this is definitely it.

IMG_0055

Up next is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. I got it in November on my birthday after I had my makeup done at Sephora and I absolutely fell in love with it. It’s got great coverage but it’s weightless and feels great on the skin and I love using it for my under eye circles. I think it’s a tad too dark but it works fine for under my eyes, it’s just not much of a highlight.

IMG_0056

Lastly is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, which I got from Lucie when we did our makeup exchange. It’s a tad too dark for me to use for blemishes, but thanks to the freckles on my face, it works perfectly for my under eye circles! I love this concealer so much, I actually asked my friend to get the lightest color for me while she’s in the UK because I wanted a lighter color really bad.

What are your favorite concealers? What concealers would you recommend? Make sure you check out Molly’s post about her favorite concealers!

Fall favorites collab with Hanna: the lipstick edition!

Hi beauties! For today’s post, we have the long-belated collab that Hanna from Lipstick Lovely and I have been working on and waiting to post for ages now! We couldn’t coordinate our schedules and we kept missing each other (when I went to Canada, when she went on vacation, etc) but we finally managed to find a week that worked for both of us! You can check out her post here.

For my post, I’m doing my top five fall lipsticks. I was originally going to do more than these five, but after a lot of careful thought, I eliminated some of the other contenders and ended with just these five. I did think to include some of the Wet n Wild lipsticks I talked about in my last post but since I was taking the pictures for those at the same time, I totally forgot to include them! I’ll add in a little mention at the end for the ones I would’ve chosen.

IMG_0002

Here we have the five I chose for my favorite fall lipsticks! In no particular order, they are Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Berry, OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Santa Ana, Sephora Lip Stains in Blackberry Sorbet and Marvelous Mauve, and ColourPop Lippie Stix in Frida.

IMG_0004

And some swatches! From left to right, these are Frida, Marvelous Mauve, Santa Ana, Blackberry Sorbet and Melted Berry. I apologize for the weird lighting, I did my best to tinker with it but this was the best I could get it to! If anyone wants better swatches, comment with your twitter and I can post something later!

I tried my hardest to pick more than just berry red shades, even though that’s usually what I want to go for in the fall. I just love a deep berry color on the lips this time of year! I’m not really one to only wear lipstick seasonally but that’s just what I’ve been in the mood for lately.

Melted Berry is that exact deep red berry shade that is absolutely beautiful, it’s dark but not overpowering and still bright enough to pass for a red lip. Santa Ana is a lighter red with a little pink in it (it’s a beautiful color and so hard to describe!!) and Blackberry Sorbet is a dark, totally vampy and totally gorgeous shade. Lastly, Marvelous Mauve is… exactly what it sounds like, actually! It’s a beautiful dark mauve color (it looks darker on the lips than on the tube sometimes) and Frida is a beautiful slightly peachy nude that is still deep enough for fall.

I obviously picked all of these because I love them, but if I had to rank them in my preferred order, it would go: Melted Berry, Santa Ana, Marvelous Mauve, Frida, and Blackberry Sorbet. This was really hard to pick though! There were at least five contenders that were left out of the race… or whatever this is.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Don’t forget to check out Hanna’s fall favorites post to see what she wrote about! What are your favorite fall lip products?

What’s in my bag? A collab with Savannah from Beauty Bunny

If you don’t know already, one of my favorite people (and official blog bestie as of the other night!) is Savannah from Beauty Bunny. After Lucie and I did our collab the other week, I asked Savannah if she wanted to do one as well and we decided, after hours of brainstorm (jk!) that we would do a post about what’s in our bags. Click here to read her post about this!

IMG_0008Let’s start with the bag. I don’t know what brand it is, but I got it at Marshall’s (maybe?) after Christmas, because my parents and my older brother got me really two really similar black bags, so I exchanged one and a dress I got that didn’t fit me and got this purse and a brown one instead. I absolutely love it! I’ve been carrying it for a few months and I’d usually be tired now but I haven’t wanted to switch it out yet.

IMG_0011

In this picture, we have:

  • My sunglasses! They’re my precious babies and I take more care of them than anything else. If I’m not wearing them, they’re in that case!
  • My wallet, which I got at Kohl’s a few years ago. It’s super cute but you can tell it’s starting to wear, so it might be time to get a new one.
  • Figs & Rouge Mango & Mandarin hand cream. I got this in my ipsy a while back, and it’s my go-to. It lives in my purse and I love it because it’s moisturizing and so light, but I’m also almost out.
  • Pens, because what kind of journalist doesn’t carry those around? I usually have two or three in here.
  • My press pass for my internship at Watermark. They got my last name wrong (it’s Boré, Fellay is my second last name but I don’t go by both) but it’s okay, because it still makes me feel super cool.
  • Magic Band! Because I’m a Disney passholder, and if I don’t have my Magic Band in my purse, how can I have impromptu Disney trips?
  • A hair bow, because that’s obviously a necessity. Also, I may have forgotten to take it out last time I wore it.

IMG_0012

And in this one, we have:

  • An iPhone charger that works about 50% of the time, but it’s my backup so it stays in my purse.
  • Notebooks! The one under the charger is the one I use for my internships, to take notes during interviews, etc. The Gryffindor one I usually have with me at work in case I think of anything I need to write down, and the polka dot one is where I write all my to-do lists. The black and white one underneath is actually my planner, and this also goes everywhere with me.
  • A polka dot mirror from Forever 21, in case my phone isn’t handy to check my lipstick or my makeup.
  • A Contigo bottle that I got at Target for 12 dollars, because hydration is important, especially when you live in Florida and work in theme parks.

Untitled 2

I’m sure you’re all surprised that there weren’t any lip products in here. I’m actually really good about taking them out of my purse and putting them away, because I’d hate to misplace any! I do have one that you can see in the image above: that green holder that says MAST on it is a chapstick holder where I carry my (usually) Burt’s Bees in. It goes on my Gryffindor lanyard that I use for my car keys, so there’s no chance I’ll forget it at home. Also on my lanyard are my Universal ID and the wristband I got when I saw One Direction in November.

Head over to Savannah’s blog to check out her post about it, and don’t forget to follow her! She’s awesome and I love her and you will to. Let me know what you guys think, or if you’d be interested in doing a collab! And as always, follow me on instagram and twitter! Thanks for reading!!

Lipstick Addicts Anonymous, a collab with Lucie

It’s become a running joke between Lucie and I that we are lipstick addicts, and we are not ashamed of it! I think at this point, Lucie expects me to comment on any post she makes about lipstick (especially when she gets new MAC lipstick) to discuss it further. So when we originally talked about doing a collab, we knew it had to be something about lipstick!

Not wanting to do something like a top five, since Lucie just did one with Ana, we decided to do this instead.

What is this, you ask? We divided our lipstick into five categories (reds, purples, corals, pinks and nudes) and picked our favorites from each!

Let me tell you, this was probably the hardest decision I’ve had to make and it felt like picking between my children or something equally ridiculous. But I powered through it and voila, here are my five choices!

IMG_0004

You guys don’t want to know how long it took to get this picture.

  • Reds: This one was arguably the hardest one to choose, but I had to go with what was probably my first good red lipstick. This is Sephora Rouge in Hot Tango, and I bought it way back in 2011 at the Sephora in CityPlace (West Palm, what up). It’s amazing quality, stays really well, and it’s soooo soft and smooth when it goes on, I just love it! Plus the color really suits me. I feel like I don’t hear a lot of people talk about Sephora makeup but this lipstick is totally underrated and one of my faves.
  • Purples: You’ve probably already seen me talk about this one, but I just love it so! This is Little Mix by Collection in Perrie, a beautiful slightly pastel-ish light purple that goes on so smoothly and stays forever. For how cheap this was (£2.99, or $4.75), it’s a great purchase and I never regret it. Mind you, I picked this over MAC’s Heroine, if that tells you how much I love it.
  • Corals: This was pretty much a no-brainer, because I don’t have a lot of corals (only three or four) and it’s the best one of them all. This is bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in Light It Up, and I’m obsessed. The color is so bright and beautiful, absolutely perfect for summer (but to be honest, I wear this whenever I want, even in the fall), and the pigmentation is perfect, and it doesn’t feel drying at all! I can’t rave about this enough. The best part is I got it with ipsy points, so I didn’t even pay for it!
  • Pinks: This was also a no-brainer, because I absolutely love this lipstick and I would wear it every day if I could. This is MAC’s Impassioned, a bright pink which is totally up my alley! The last time I wore this, it stayed all day without budging even when I ate or drank. I barely needed to touch it up at all, which is saying a lot when I compulsively touch up my lipstick every other day! 10/10, would recomment.
  • Nudes: Last but not least, my holy grail nude lipstick. I totally have Lucie to thank for this one and even if it was a total impulse buy, I don’t regret it at all! This is MAC’s Velvet Teddy, and it’s a perfect color, a nude that suits my lips beautifully in a matte finish that isn’t drying but stays all day. Sometimes I have trouble not wearing it every day!
IMG_0007

From top to bottom: Hot Tango, Perrie, Light It Up, Impassioned and Velvet Teddy.

So that was it for today! I hope you guys liked hearing about some of my favorite lipsticks. I’m planning a lipstick stash post at one point sooner or later, but it’ll have to be broken down in six or seven parts, so it’ll be a while. Don’t forget to head over to Lucie’s blog and read her post!

Doing a collab with Lucie was so fun, I loved chatting about what we could do it on and all our brainstorming sessions! If you don’t follow this girl already, you absolutely need to — she was one of the first people I followed on here, and she’s just so sweet and nice to everyone! And if anyone would like to do a collab, just let me know, I’m always down for more!

What are your favorite lipsticks in these colors? Let me know in the comments! And don’t forget to follow me on instagram and twitter.
