MAC lipstick collection: a collab with Clarina Beauty

Hello my loves! Today’s post is a collab with the beautiful Claire over at Clarina Beauty! After she won my MAC giveaway lipstick, we had talked about doing a MAC lipstick collection collab, but with my Chile trip looming on the horizon, we just didn’t get around to doing it before I left! As soon as I got back, I contacted her to get it done ASAP because I was so excited for it. Make sure to head over to Claire’s blog to read all about her MAC lipstick collection!

So let’s get on with it, yes?

Aaaah, my beautiful MAC lipsticks… They’re really like my babies, and I treasure them with my life. Looking at this picture, I feel like I’m really missing some purples and plums in my collection, but to be fair, I had Heroine and gave it to Kira because I really didn’t use it and they would appreciate it more. Next on my list to get will be some plum shades for sure!

As you can see, I have a total of ten lipsticks and I love them all. If you noticed, there is a MAC lipstick box in the background of the picture, but that’s actually the color Syrup and I sold it to a friend so I could get a different lipstick, since it’s too similar to Brave and I wouldn’t wear it.

But enough chit chat and let’s move on to the swatches!

First are the nude, MLBB shades. From top to bottom, we have Whirl, Velvet Teddy, Brave and Please Me. Whirl, Velvet Teddy and Please Me are all matte finishes, while Brave is a satin finish. Lucie once described Whirl as the darker, bolder older sister of Velvet Teddy, and she’s definitely right. On me, it’s a beautiful brown nude and my newest addition to the collection! Velvet Teddy is an essential in anyone’s lipstick collection, a perfect nude that looks good on anyone, and Brave and Please Me are more muted nude-ish pinks.

And now for the pinks and reds! From top to bottom, we have: Candy Yum Yum, All Fired Up, Full Fuchsia, Impassioned, Lady Danger and the infamous Ruby Woo. Most of these, except for Candy Yum Yum and Ruby Woo, I got from my ex… at least one good thing to come out of that relationship! Candy Yum Yum and Lady Danger are matte finishes, All Fired Up and Ruby Woo are retro matte finishes, and Full Fuchsia and Impassioned are amplified finishes.

There you have it, folks, my MAC lipstick collection! What do you think I should get next? Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to go read Claire’s post!

My favorite concealers: collab with The Rose Beauty Files

Hi my beautiful friends! Today’s post is another collab, this time with Molly from The Rose Beauty Files. I approached Molly about a collab a few months ago, originally intending to post it while I was in Chile, but we didn’t get around to arranging it before I left so we got back to it when I came back, and now here it is! If you haven’t checked out Molly’s blog, you should definitely head over there and enjoy how great it is!

I don’t have a lot of concealers, because between these three, I have everything I need. My favorite concealers are Urban Decay Naked Skin, Rimmel Wake Me Up and NARS Creamy Radiant concealer.

I got the NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer back in September in one of my first big Sephora hauls. I had heard so many good reviews about it and considering that I was totally lacking a good concealer, I couldn’t help myself. It’s a great concealer, definitely full coverage and great for the circles under your eyes and for redness and blemishes. If you’re looking to invest in a good concealer, this is definitely it.

Up next is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. I got it in November on my birthday after I had my makeup done at Sephora and I absolutely fell in love with it. It’s got great coverage but it’s weightless and feels great on the skin and I love using it for my under eye circles. I think it’s a tad too dark but it works fine for under my eyes, it’s just not much of a highlight.

Lastly is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, which I got from Lucie when we did our makeup exchange. It’s a tad too dark for me to use for blemishes, but thanks to the freckles on my face, it works perfectly for my under eye circles! I love this concealer so much, I actually asked my friend to get the lightest color for me while she’s in the UK because I wanted a lighter color really bad.

What are your favorite concealers? What concealers would you recommend? Make sure you check out Molly’s post about her favorite concealers!

Collective Boxycharm: January, February and March 2016

Hi beauties! Here is the last of my beauty box catch up posts. If you read the last two, you know by now that I’ve decided to cancel my Birchbox and ipsy subscriptions and stick with just Boxycharm for now. I’m open to the idea of trying new beauty boxes, but I’ve looked into most of them at one point or another and haven’t wanted to try any of them, so I don’t think I’ll be subbing to a new one anytime soon!

The first Boxycharm of 2016 had a theme called “Eyes on 2016,” which is funny, because ipsy’s theme was also eye-related. I know my box looks a little bare, but that’s because a) I think the brushes counted as two items, b) I gave away my Revealed Smoky palette to my cousin because I don’t like Coastal Scents shadows.

With that being said, I received:

  • Blinc Mascara Amplified.
  • Royal & Langnickel Brush Set.
  • Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eye Liner Pen.

Out of the three boxes, this is my far my least favorite. I don’t do much with my eye makeup (probably because I’m not very good at it) so I don’t really care for the eye liner or the mascara, but the brushes were cool!

The next box had a theme of “Rush to Relax.” This box was jam-packed with goodies! Some of these I loved, but some of these I’m indifferent about. I received:

  • Spongellé You Have My Heart On A String.
  • Beauty For Real Blush + Glow Stick.
  • Shray Ms. Amazing Facial Mask.
  • OFRA Banana Powder Godet.
  • Freeze 24/7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum.
  • Realtree for Her.

The most intriguing item in this month’s box is the sponge for sure, as it’s “body wash infused” and has a soft side to cleanse and a textured side to exfoliate! The blush and glow stick also looks pretty promising, but I don’t care for the mask as it’s for dry skin which is the opposite of my skin type.

And last but not least is the March box, with a “Sweet Treats” theme. This one I was probably most excited about because I have yet to try Makeup Geek shadows and I got beautiful colors, and I love Luxie Beauty brushes so I really love getting them in boxes! I received:

  • Clark’s Botanical Anti-Puff Eye Cream.
  • Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris Perfume.
  • Two Makeup Geek eye shadows.
  • Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color Pencil.
  • Luxie Beauty Small Contour Brush.

So that’s it for my Boxycharm for the last three months, as well as my beauty box catch up posts! Next beauty box post will be my April Boxycharm, so we’ve got a while until then.

What did you get this month in your Boxycharm?

Collective Birchbox: January, February and March 2016

Hi loves! I’m back again with another catch up beauty box post. When I got back to the US and my apartment, I was very excited to see all the goodies waiting for me from all the beauty boxes I’m subscribed too, but looking at them all side by side was also very eye-opening, as I realized that I really don’t get a lot out of my Birchbox or ipsy subscriptions, so I canceled them both and am only keeping my Boxycharm for the time being!

Let’s get on with it, shall we?

In my January box, I received:

  • Cynthia Rowley Eyeliner in black.
  • Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect.
  • Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel.
  • TONYMOLY Delight Tony Tint in Red.
  • Whish Three Whishes Body Butter.

Out of these, I was most excited about the peel or the body butter, but the tint looks very intriguing! I kept the eyeliner, the tint, the peel and the body butter, and the spray went to the giveaway pile.

In February, I received:

  • Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle.
  • COOLA Tinted Matte SPF 30 for Face.
  • Marcelle NewAge 8 in 1 Power Serum.
  • Not Soap, Radio Body Wash.
  • POP Beauty Matte Velvet Lipstix in Satin Rose.

Out of these, I was definitely most excited for the lipstick (duh). It’s a beautiful wearable color (think MLBB but a little more mauve) and it swatched beautifully! I’m also psyched to try the tinted moisturizer because I’ve tried some of their other moisturizers and sunscreens and I’ve loved everything I’ve tried! Out of these, the spray and the serum went to the giveaway pile.

And lastly, in March, I received:

  • Cargo Land Down Under Eye Shadow.
  • COOLA SPF 30 Organic Makeup Setting Spray.
  • Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow.
  • Pinrose Petal Pack Duo.
  • White & Elm Rose & Argan Antioxidant Serum.

Out of these, I was definitely excited and intrigued by the COOLA setting spray! I kept everything except for the BB cream, which went to the giveaway pile.

Individually, these boxes don’t look too bad, but overall, I wasn’t too excited about the boxes, which led to me cancelling my subscription for Birchbox. Who knows, I might go back to it because I definitely do like it better than ipsy most of the time, but Boxycharm seems to be the winner for now!

Thanks for reading, let me know what you got in your Birchbox!

Collective ipsy: January, February and March 2016

Hi guys! After a long two months (ish), I’m back in the US and back in business! I’ve been getting down and dirty, organizing all the posts I wanted to write now that I’m back in the US and reunited with my full makeup collection, and now that I’ve photographed a shit ton of posts, I’m ready to get back into a regular posting schedule! Expect posts from me every Tuesday and Thursday and lots of exciting posts (including some awesome collabs) starting today!

While I was away, I got three different ipsy bags and while I was originally not planning on writing about the ones for January and February, I decided to divide my usual beauty boxes post into three posts with each beauty box for the past three months. That being said, this will be my last ipsy post for the time being, as I decided on a whim that I didn’t want it anymore! Actually, I think it was looking at three bags at once and not feeling particularly excited about any of them that did it.

So let’s get started, shall we?

The first bag of 2016 was this colorful number, with the theme “All Eyes on You.” The bag is cute but I’m not a huge fan of it, so don’t be surprised if you see it pop up in my next giveaway… In this bag, I received:

  • Hey Honey Open Your Eyes Eye Contour Lifting Fluid.
  • MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow in You’re Toast.
  • theBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner Pencil in Scott B. Bordeaux.
  • Dirty Little Secret Satin Lipstick in Vengeance.
  • Lasting Smiles Lip Balm in Peppermint Creme.

Overall, it’s a pretty good bag, but nothing in it makes me super excited to have gotten it. Out of these five things, I think I’m actually keeping three of them (the eyeliner, the shadow and the lipstick) and the rest are going to my next giveaway!

For February, we received this cute pixelated bag with the theme “Pretty in #ipsypink.” In this bag, I received:

  • VINTAGE by Jessica Liebeskind Sparkling Lip Gloss in Pink Sequin.
  • Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in Sierra Nevada 02.
  • Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Primer Oil.
  • Perfectly Posh Best Face Forever Exfoliating Daily Facewash.
  • Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat.

This bag may have been my least favorite. Again, I’m keeping three of the five products (the pigment, the face wash and the gel coat) and the other two are off to the giveaway pile (which is getting quite large).

Lastly, this is what I received for my March bag, which had the theme “Hello, Spring!” This one is by far my favorite bag and I was very excited to see all the products in it! This month, I received:

  • Marc Anthony Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco 3 Day Smooth Perfect Blow Dry Smoothing Cream.
  • NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Pink Lust.
  • Pixi by Petra Beauty Blush Duo in Rose Gold.
  • Manna Kadar Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Fantasy.
  • Margaret Dabbs London Super Shiner Buffer.

Out of these five things, I’ll be keeping three of them (the hair cream, the eye shadow and the buffer). I know you’re probably thinking, “Valentina! You love highlighters and lipstick!” But here’s the thing: I have lipstick colors that are really similar to the one I received (if I only I had gotten Soft Spoken… sigh) and I have more than enough highlighters (not to mention I wouldn’t wear the blush), so I figured I’d rather find them a better home!

So that’s my last three ipsy bags, and my last bags for the time being! I don’t know if one day I’ll cave and resubscribe, but for now I’m proud of myself for making the decision to cancel.

Thanks for reading! Let me know what you got in your ipsy bags lately.
