Shop My Stash: ColourPop lippie stix

Hi my loves! Sorry for the extended delay in getting this post out, I miscalculated how many posts I had scheduled and between that and extending my trip by three weeks, I totally didn’t realize I had this post that wasn’t up yet! Obviously, I took these pictures before I left the US, but it’s my last pre-taken post. I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to come up with a few more posts that I can photograph here to post before I go back to the US, since I only have two weeks left, but if I do, you guys will be the first to know!

I first heard of ColourPop through my ex, who told me all about this awesome indie company with affordable, great quality lipsticks. I placed my first order almost a year ago, and I’ve been obsessed ever since! A few of the lipsticks I’ve gotten have been a miss, so they’ve been passed on to my sister or other friends, so these are the ones who made the cut!

First, let’s start with nudes. From left to right, we have: Topanga, Peppermint, Cookie, Frida, Bound, and Lumière.

Up next, we have the reds. From left to right, we have: LBB, Bichette, Ellarie, Dazed, Bossy, Frenchie and Clique.

And lastly, we have the purples and pinks! From left to right, we have: Flawless, Heart On, Scandy, I <3 This, Punky, Trixie, Toucan and Fetch. (I think.)

Let me tell you, figuring out the swatches for some of these was the hardest thing I’ve had to do in a while because I was dumb enough to not take a picture of the lippies in the order I swatched them where I could clearly see the name, and a lot of these are really similar in color, so it took everything in me to get it right (and I still might have messed up some).

Hope you guys enjoyed the post! Do you have any ColourPop lippie stix? Which one’s your favorite?

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip: review and swatches

Hi guys! Today’s post is a review along with swatches of the ColourPop Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks. These were all the rage when they were released, and I was quick to get my hands on some to try them out.

I got three colors (Bumble, Tulle and Clueless) in a haul way back when but I decided to pass Clueless onto a friend since I wasn’t getting much use out of it since it’s very similar to one of my favorite liquid lipstick (the Sephora Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve). The next color I got was Mars (if I’m not mistaken) and then More Better was the last one to join the ranks. Who knows which will be the next one to join my collection? Only time will tell…

JK. It’s totally going to be Lumiere 2. I need that baby right now.

ANYWAY! Moving on. Let’s get some swatches up in here, alright?

First, we’ve got Bumble on the left and Tulle on the right. Both of these are beautiful fall colors and there’s something about them that is just so unique! I loved wearing these last fall and I don’t regret them for one minute. Tulle actually looks a whole lot darker on my lips than on my hand but it makes for a great vampy color!

Then we’ve got Mars on the left and More Better on the right. I got Mars in a haul with quite a few other products, but More Better I was obsessed with as soon as I saw that it was being released and got it in a considerably smaller order along with the stuff I was sending Lucie for her care package!

Moving on… You’ve probably heard by now that people weren’t all too happy with the formula of the Ultra Matte Lip when it was first released. After hearing so many different people say that they weren’t fans of the formula, I did a lot of research and only got the colors that I knew people liked formula-wise, which is how I ended up with these.

By now, ColourPop has supposedly improved their liquid lipstick formula but I can’t attest to that since the last lipstick I got was back in October and I don’t know how much the formula has changed since, but the lipsticks that I have are definitely better than the reviews I heard when these were first launched.

They’re very liquid-y and don’t have a very pleasant smell, but it doesn’t linger so it’s honestly not even noticeable once you’re done applying. Once they dry, they dry to a full matte finish, which is great, but they’re not the most comfortable to wear on the lips. Not the most uncomfortable either, but they don’t compare to OFRA or Stila.

They look great and smooth (provided that you exfoliate your lips) but they’re not fully transfer proof, which means that they wear off more than some other matte lipsticks I’ve tried, and in the end, touching them up is a pain because they fade on the inside of your lips, but then crumble when you reapply to the point that you have to take them off completely and reapply it from scratch.

So what’s the verdict? If you don’t mind a drying formula that gets uncomfortable after a few hours, you’ll definitely like these, but they’re not the type of lipstick to wear out to dinner. If you’re going somewhere that you know you won’t eat or drink much though, these are perfect because they are very matte and they look great.

So I hope this was a useful review to read if you were on the fence about these and let me know if you have any and how you like them! Thanks for reading!

Collective haul and bonus Christmas presents

Hi guys! Today’s post is a collective haul from various places, including Sephora, MAC, drugstore and a few Christmas presents from a few different people! So let’s get started, shall we?

This is a cute little haul and I’m super excited about all the stuff I got, especially because I got to travel and bring a lot of it to Chile with me! I didn’t want to bring too many new products I’ve never tried before, but some of the stuff you see here made it to Chile with me.

First up, I got a Lâncome lipstick from a friend that she said she wasn’t using and that I always rocked a red lipstick better anyway (her words, not mine). Of course, I wasn’t about to turn down a free red lipstick but like the doofus I am, I forgot to check the shade name. Sorry! Then I got a new MAC lipstick in the shade Please Me, which I’m totally and 100% blaming Lucie for because she was the one who convinced me to! I originally got a different color from my friend Emma as part of She Did What She Wanted‘s gift exchange, but the color was super close to another MAC lipstick I already had, so I exchanged it for Please Me and I couldn’t be happier! It’s a beautiful muted pink, almost a nude lipstick and perfect for everyday wear!

Up next, we have two of the NYX soft matte lip creams, which were a Christmas present from my brother. I got one from Jodi recently but I haven’t had a chance to wear them but I’m super excited to, as I’ve heard plenty of amazing things about them. I got the colors Prague (on the left) and Addis Ababa (in the middle). Addis Ababa isn’t very pigmented and looks quite sheer on the lips, but Prague is a lot more pigmented and I can’t wait to wear it! Then we have a limited edition lip gloss from Sexy Hair Concepts, which Kira got for me as part of their Christmas present. It’s a beautiful color, super pigmented, but not sticky, so it’s the perfect lip gloss!

Then some perusing in Sephora led me to cave and buy two of the Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick Duos, as they were on sale for ten dollars each and that’s basically four lipsticks for five dollars, so how could I resist? From left to right, we have Latte, Cortado, Palomino and Pomegranate. These came to Chile with me and I haven’t regretted it for a single second, as they are super pigmented and very moisturizing! They’re extremely comfortable to wear and I love all of them.

Lastly, we have the BECCA highlighters (sorry, too lazy to type out the whole name) in the color Opal. This was also part of Kira’s amazing Christmas present and I was super excited because I’d been wanting to get my hands on this set but when I went to Sephora, it was out of stock! But my best friend knows me well and they know how bad I wanted it! It was part of a (limited edition, I believe) set with a travel-sized powder highlighter and cream highlighter. I brought the powder with me to Chile and I’ve been loving it.

And as you can see way back in the corner there, I got the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream in the acne treatment formula. I really wanted something to bring with me to Chile but I tried and failed to get the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation since they didn’t have a color that suited my skin (lightest color was too light, next up was too dark). A BB cream obviously isn’t the same as a foundation, but it provides some coverage and I do like it a lot! (Not pictured is the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation I bought the last day before I left for my travels.)

So that’s it for my haul! Let me know what you think and if you’ve tried any of these products before.
