I’ve got mail: Lucie’s care package

Hi guys! So today I’ve got a very very exciting post to share with you all. For months and months, Lucie and I have been planning a little makeup exchange where we’d buy makeup from our respective countries for each other and send it across the pond and we finally got around to sending it! I’m super excited to share what goodies Lucie got for me, and I absolutely loved everything!

IMG_0453

The box was so cute and everything I got was awesome!! Lucie was definitely super generous and I can’t even explain how excited I was to try out all this stuff!

IMG_0455

Let me start with the yummiest stuff — the candy! She got me all these yummy goodies from the UK and I devoured everything in no time. The fudge especially was delicious, I shared it with my family and they loved it!

IMG_0454

Lucie and I share a love of LUSH bath bombs, but for some reason, the stores here in Orlando are always lacking in variety, so she sent me my very own bath bomb from the Oxford Street store in London (and it’s the Frozen one, which I thought was very appropriate since I love Disney). Funny story: I was worried the bath bomb would have broken on its trip across the ocean and thankfully it didn’t, but it did shed a lot and leave everything a little bit powdery, including the fudge! I had to explain why it tasted a little soapy to my family and it was really amusing.

IMG_0458

I specifically asked for the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer after hearing such great things from so many UK bloggers about it, and I haven’t seen any products from this range in the US, sadly! The color was spot on and I can’t wait to give it a try. She also got me the Good to Glow highlighter from Rimmel in Soho Glow, which I also haven’t seen here and I love it!

IMG_0456

Of course, Lucie knows me well and she knows my love for lip products, so the box came with so many of those! I got a Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick in Nude-ist, the famous Rimmel lip liner in Eastend Snob (I love Rimmel’s shade names in the UK!), a gloss stick from Soap and Glory and a lipstick from Makeup Revolution.

IMG_0457

The color on all of these is spot on and I absolutely love them all! From left to right, we have Bourjois, Soap and Glory, Makeup Revolution and Rimmel.

IMG_0459

Last but certainly not least, she got me an eyeshadow palette from MUA, a brand I’ve tried and loved before! This is the Hall of Fame palette, which consists of 12 of the most popular shades MUA has had in other palettes. She also got me a single shadow from Makeup Revolution, a liquid liner from Collection, and a mascara from Bourjois!

If you don’t follow Lucie already, definitely check her blog out RIGHT NOW!! What are you waiting for?

And thank you again Lucie for the most amazing care package I’ve ever received, I loved everything in it and I can’t wait to play with it all! This was so generous of you and the best idea we’ve had all year!!

Hi guys! Last chance to  enter my giveaway, you’ve got ONE HOUR left!!

Black Friday haul, pt 1.5

Hi friends! I know what you’re thinking — another Black Friday haul? Technically, most of this isn’t Black Friday purchases (only two things are) but I figured I might as well clump them all together anyway.

As you might know, I had some issues with my Black Friday purchases not coming in time for me to blog about them all at the same time, which was somewhat frustrating.

The ones that took the longest (but traveled the shortest distance, ironically enough) were the OFRA goodies I wrote about last Thursday, but the last goodies to arrive were the e.l.f. goodies you see here.

So anyway, enough chatter and let’s get to it!

IMG_7977

Let’s start with the actual Black Friday purchases, shall we? I got the e.l.f. lip exfoliator in Sweet Cherry, because I’ve been a fan of their original exfoliator for ages now and am down to half a tube of it, so I figured it was time to stock up. I was surprised to see that the packaging and the formula is quite different from the old one, and in a good way, too! The original formula had much bigger pieces in it that could sometimes rub your lips a tad too raw, and the new one is much softer but still does the work. Plus the scent is just yummy!

Along with that, I got the HD Undereye Setting Powder after seeing in a KathleenLights video that it’s a dupe for the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. The e.l.f. powder allegedly used to have glitter particles in it that Kathleen didn’t like, but her viewers told her that they reformulated it without glitter, and I figured that this was the perfect time to try it out! I haven’t used it so far, but I’ll report back when I do!

Moving on! I recently received a coupon for 20% at Ulta and I had racked up a few points I could use to get a few dollars off, so I went and picked up the Batiste dry shampoo in the Floral Essence scent, as well as a NYX Matte Lipstick in the color Merlot!

If you’re wondering what those makeup wipes are and why the hell I’ve decided to share them in a haul, worry not. The reason I wanted to tell you guys about these is because they cost 96 cents!!! YES, REALLY. And for 96 cents, I was expecting a crappy product, but let me tell you, these are just as good as any other brand wipes I’ve tried, so I’m very happy with this discovery. Granted, my skin isn’t sensitive so this isn’t a concern for me, so keep that in mind before you run out to Walmart!

IMG_7978

Then I had a bit of a cheeky Sephora purchase, mainly an excuse to use that coupon that Sephora gave us VIBs for 20 dollars off a purchase of $50 or more. I got the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in the color Always Red, after seeing Emily Fox rave about it on her channel multiple times! Once I got it, I realized it’s basically a dupe for Kat Von D’s liquid lipstick in Underage Red (as is the NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in Kitten Heels, which I just got last week). What can I say? I’m easily tempted and I sometimes forget to check for dupes. But hey, at least now I know I have enough dupes in my collection to do a post about it!

The big item I got at Sephora with this order was the BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, which I saw good reviews about and am always interested in, considering my eternal struggle with oily skin! I haven’t tried it yet, but you’ll definitely be hearing about it when I do. (Also, is it just me or are all of their names total tongue twisters?)

IMG_7979

You think I’ve forgotten, but I promise I was just saving the best for last! The last bit of this haul is the newest member of my merry MAC family — Whirl! After hearing everyone and their mother rave about this shade (particularly Lucie), I knew I had to have it, so when my aunt got me a shade I already own for my birthday present, I took the chance to exchange it for Whirl instead, and I am so glad I did! This baby looks beautiful on and I love it more than I can explain.

So here we have swatches for Always Red, Merlot and Whirl, from left to right. And with that, we have come to the end of this very wordy post, and I’m going to leave you, until my next extremely wordy post on Thursday.

Don’t forget to let me know what you thought in the comments!

Black Friday haul, part 2

Hello, beauties! Today we have part two of my huge and irresponsible Black Friday haul! This is definitely the bigger of the two posts, so I can’t wait to share these goodies with you!

Let’s get right to it, shall we?

IMG_0308

I placed a sizable order over at the L.A. Girl site because they had everything 40% off their already cheap prices, and I’m so excited to try out everything I got! First, we have their lip liner in the colors Forever Red, Forever, Rose, Burgundy, and Raspberry. I totally forgot Rose when I took the pictures, so that’s why it’s only four in there.

IMG_0320

From left to right, we have Forever Red, Burgundy, Raspberry, and Forever.

IMG_0309

Up next, we have the Glazed Lip Paints and the Matte Flat Pigment Glosses. I got the lip paints in Blushing, Tango, Feisty, Bombshell and Pin-up, and the “glosses” in Fleur, Secret, Timeless and Obsess. (I don’t know why they call them glosses, these are definitely liquid matte lipsticks.)

IMG_0314

From top to bottom, we have: Obsess, Secret, Timeless and Fleur.

IMG_0319

From left to right, we have: Blushing, Tango, Bombshell, Feisty and Pin-up.

So that’s it for my L.A. Girl stuff! I haven’t tried much of it so far other than trying on the paints and the glosses on my lips to see how the colors looked. The ones I was most surprised by were Tango (which is so much more coral than red than I pictured) and Feisty (which is straight up orange and I probably won’t keep). Out of the glosses, I loved Fleur and I left it on long enough to dry, but even then, it wasn’t completely matte. Otherwise, it was comfortable on my lips when it dried!

IMG_0311

Now for these suckers: MORE LIPSTICK! I’ve been eyeing Santa Monica ever since I first heard about OFRA lipsticks on Rachael’s blog and with the 50% off, I couldn’t resist. I also caved and got Manhattan (a dark, dusty mauve) and Bel Air (a really good nude) because I’m an OFRA lipstick addict. Who wants to join my club?

IMG_0312

Here we have Bel Air, Manhattan and Santa Monica respectively. I was really happy to see I don’t have anything quite like Manhattan (the closest I have is Lolita, but that’s less purple and more brown), but I totally have a few that look like Santa Monica, even one almost exact dupe (one of the Stila lipsticks, if I’m not mistaken).

IMG_0310

And for the last of my goodies, we have the translucent highlighting luxury powder and the beautiful You Glow Girl highlighter that the girls from dupethat created with OFRA! I was super tempted to get both, but I resisted and only got this one, since I saw that the other one was super close to Mary-Lou Manizer, and I already have that in my stash!

So that’s the last of my big Black Friday haul, but expect a part 1.5 with one order that still hasn’t come and another few goodies I picked up on Tuesday!

What did you get for Black Friday?

Black Friday haul, part 1

Hi my loves! Here I am, after unexpectedly taking a few days off my blog (aka not setting time aside to write new posts and having to work too many days last week).

It’s a little late, but since I’m just now getting my Black Friday purchases, the next two posts will be all about that! I’m still waiting for a few more purchases and the next post will be way longer than this one, but I couldn’t wait to share these goodies with you guys!

IMG_0303

Up first, we have this gorgeous baby and the reason I was even on the Ulta website in the first place! This is the Lorac Love, Lust & Lace matte eye shadow palette, which I got for a whopping 12 bucks! Considering that this has one less shade than Naked Basics and cost less than half the price of that one, this one was for sure I steal!

I wanted to get something small that I could easily travel with, but I know I need more matte shadows and I figured this fit the bill perfectly on both accounts. The colors are very simple but very versatile, and that grey looks so much more beautiful in person than it did on the website!

IMG_0302

The second part of my Ulta purchase was two of the (fairly) new NYX Liquid Suede cream lipsticks. I got the colors Vintage (on the left) and Kitten Heels (on the right) and let me just say, I love Vintage so much more than I was expecting to!

They both look beautiful and they dry to a nice matte but they’re not totally drying (not transfer proof either). I can’t wait to see how they wear throughout the day!

2015-12-05 13.49.49

As a bonus, here’s a selfie of me wearing Vintage! I couldn’t resist putting it on when it came in the mail and I really love how it looks, it’s so vampy and perfect for fall and it’s such a unique color to boot! I really love it!

IMG_0301

Lastly, we have theBalm Cosmetics’ Meet Matt(e) Hughes liquid lipstick in Devoted (left) and Sentimental (right). I know I already have like ten different lipsticks that look just like these, but after trying out the lipstick I got in my ipsy the other day at work, I couldn’t resist their Black Friday sale!

These are probably one of the best liquid lipstick formulas I’ve ever tried (and that’s saying a lot). They dry to a complete matte and they’re 100% transfer proof once dry, but after wearing it for more than seven hours, they get a little uncomfortable and crumble a bit on the inside of my lips. No lipstick is perfect, but these are pretty damn close!

IMG_0306

And f0r some swatches, we have Vintage, Kitten Heels, Sentimental and Devoted (from top to bottom). If you’re judging me for buying two red liquid lipsticks, at least you can see that Devoted is way more of a pinky red than Kitten Heels!

So there’s part one of my Black Friday haul! Tune in on Thursday to see what I got in part two, if everything shows up in time…
