Hello friends and welcome to the latest edition of “Valentina spends too much money on makeup.” Our special guest today is the up and coming brand ColourPop, which burst onto the scene earlier this year with five dollar lipsticks that give you the quality of something much more expensive, and has now become a staple in every beauty addict’s vanity! Let’s see what they have in store for us today…
Okay, anyway. As you can probably see, I may or may not have a slight problem where I spend too much money on makeup, but this is to be expected, right? That’s why I run a beauty blog! To be completely fair, I did give myself a budget and I waited patiently until my student loans came back so I could splurge on some new ColourPop goodies. I thought long and hard about what I wanted and I definitely think I made the right choices here. Let’s see what we got, shall we?
We’ll start with the product everyone’s been talking about: the Ultra Matte Lips. These liquid lipsticks come in 25 different shades and are only six dollars each. For that price, how could I resist picking some up? The shades here are Clueless, Tulle, Mars, and Bumble (from top to bottom).
And for some swatches, top to bottom: Clueless, Mars, Bumble and Tulle. I did my fair share of research when looking into which colors I wanted to buy and made sure I was 100% sure before I ordered. I found out when they got here that Clueless is extremely similar to the Sephora lip cream in Marvelous Mauve I recently purchased, only slightly lighter, but oh well. It looked way more pink on the site.
From left to right, we have: Toucan, Lumière, and Topanga (along with a lippie pencil in Bound that isn’t pictured here). These were also purchases I’ve been thinking about for a while and I tried really hard not to get anything I have something similar to already. Both Lumière and Topanga are beautiful shades for fall and well, I can never resist a bright lip, can I?
Left to right: Bound, Toucan, Lumière and Topanga. I was really excited to hear that Bound is apparently a good dupe for MAC’s Whirl, which I’ve heard wonders about. The only reason I didn’t buy it in lipstick form is because the glossy finish it comes in isn’t my favorite and I’d prefer to have it in a matte finish, which the pencil is. Toucan and Lumière are both matters, meanwhile Topanga is a satin finish, which is my second favorite after matte.
And lastly, two highlighters, because I couldn’t resist the temptation, and highlighters are my latest obsession! Here we have Butterfly Beach on the left and Wisp on the right. I’ll admit when I first opened the box, I was a bit scared at how dark they look in the pan, but once I swatched them, I was relieved to see they look absolutely beautiful on!
Top is Wisp and bottom is Butterfly Beach. I haven’t heard a lot about their highlighters but I trust ColourPop so I definitely can’t wait to give these a try!
And that’s it for today’s haul. What’d you guys think? What have you gotten from ColourPop so far? Let me know in the comments!
