Hi! Happy Sunday everyone, I hope you’ve all enjoyed your weekends and are ready to go back to school/work/whatever responsibilities you have. Since I work in theme parks, I usually work on weekends and my days off are during the week, which was really strange at first but by now I’m used to it! But anyway, I digress.
Today is the end of the first week of my fitness challenge with Savannah. I think we both did well this week, we kept each other up to date with what we did and all and we both worked out for our agreed upon times!
In case you don’t remember or haven’t read our other posts about it, for our first week, we had to work out twice a week for 30 minutes. This week, I did yoga for 30 minutes on Wednesday and 10 minutes of various cardio exercises (jogging in place, jumping jacks, that type of thing) and 20 minutes of yoga today. I wanted to start with something simple that wouldn’t overwhelm me so I could ease myself into working out after a quite long time without exercising!
Along with working out, I’ve been keeping track of what I ate every day for a week now and I’m doing pretty well so far. The point isn’t necessarily to diet, more so just to be more aware of what I eat and how I could be eating better! It’s helped me not be so easily tempted to go to the Taco Bell drive through instead of cooking dinner. The app I use is called My Fitness Pal, and it adds in how many steps you’ve walked from the iPhone step counter, which actually helped me to realize that I was underestimating how much I walk in a day! On average, I’ll walk about three or four miles, and on Tuesday, during an especially arduous shift, I walked a whopping 11 miles at work!
So that’s it for the first week! This coming week, we’re working out twice a week for 45 minutes. Wish us luck!
