Just the other day, my blog bestie Savannah and I were chatting about how we wish we could make ourselves go to the gym or work out more often instead of just sitting on the computer all day. This is something that I think about on a regular basis but just never actually get off my ass to do anything about it, with some half-hearted attempts every so often, but I’ve wanted to work out on a regular basis again for a long time now.
With this in mind, Savannah and I decided that doing a fitness challenge together would be a great way to get us both off our asses and on our feet, and that this way we could motivate each other and keep each other accountable, even though she’s all the way in Tennessee and I’m in Florida! (If only we could go to the gym together, that’d be much nicer.)
The way this will work is we’re starting with four weeks of working out and then prolonging the challenge to make and keep the habit of working out on a regular basis again. We’ll start with a set amount the first week and then increase it in increments until the fourth week, when we’ll reach the schedule we want to keep at long term.
We’re going to start week one by working out twice a week for 30 minutes each time. It can be anything we want (going for a walk, going on a run, yoga, going to the gym, swimming, zumba, etc.) as long as we do it for the specified time. The second week, we’re working out twice a week for 45 minutes each time, the third week it’ll be three times a week for 30 minutes each time, and the fourth week it’ll be three times a week for 45 minutes each time.
With that schedule, we’ll hopefully get on track to getting back in shape and making working out a habit! Hopefully this helps and we stick to what we agreed to do. Expect weekly updates from me and posts from Savannah on her blog as well throughout the challenge!
